The
Art
of the
Dragon A tutorial on how to create Dragon Eggs within Apophysis copyright Darvin Atkeson 2005 |
![]() |
Before beginning this tutorial, you should have the following items installed on the system where you plan to do the tutorials: 1. Apophysis 2.02 or greater. You can obtain the current version of Apophysis from http://www.apophysis.org. 2. My custom scripts which can be download here. These files should be extracted to the C:\Program Files\Apophysis 2.0\scripts folder. NOTE: Some screen shots may vary. For the screens below I was using a beta version of 2.02G. |
||
| 1) Open Apophysis and go to the Options > Options or press Ctrl + P to bring up the Options Panel. We will leave the General Settings at their defaults. Click on the Display tab and set the values as shown in Figure 1 below. | ||

| These settings will slightly darken the colors an help prevent blowing
out the center of the eggs. (turning it solid white). We are also increasing
the detail of the previews. If you have a slower system you may wish to
leave these settings at their defaults but I have found that most systems
should handle the higher settings. |
||
| 2. Next we go to the Random Tab and enter the values
shown in figure 2. |
||
|
|
||
| We set the Maximum value in both the Number of transforms and Mutation transforms to a value of 2. At first this may seem odd but what we want is to start with the lowest possible number of transforms so that we can add more as needed. If we were to start with more, it limits the number that we can add later as the current version of Apophysis limits you to a total of 12 transforms. | ||
| 3. Proceed to the Variations tab. See Figure 3 below: | ||

||
| Click on the clear all then put a check in the disc option. The disc option is what will generate the perfect spheres. You can make an egg that is not set to disc, but it is much more difficult. | ||
